I have a Verizon Fios gigabit setup with internet and TV service, with several MoCA runs throughout the house used mainly for ethernet backhaul of several WiFi mesh devices. I also use a WF-803M MoCA adapter to connect the FIOS set top box by coax to coax wall outlet and the smart TV to ethernet port of MoCa adapter. Everything works fine, except when it doesn't. Every now and then, without discernible cause, the set top box loses data connectivity to the Fios server and TV program guide and other set-top box services (search, on-demand, etc.) are no longer available. This failure does NOT affect TV service and internet connectvity. (Apparently the set top box receives the data it needs for the program guide etc. via coax, which I don't quite understand...) Rebooting set top box and MoCA adapter usually brings back data connectivity by some fiddling and many trial-and-error steps which may also involve turning on devices in a certain order. There does not seem to be a sure, clear way to acchieve this -- at least I haven't found it. Very annoying. However, a way around the problem is to run wall coax through a two-way splitter, with one output going to the set top box and the other to the MoCA adapter, i.e., not using the TV coax port of the WF-803M at all. This always works without any issue and thus solves my problem, however, it defeats the purpose of having the WF-803M in the first place. I always thought -- perhaps naively -- that the WF-803M is basically an ordinary MoCA adapter with a built-in two-way splitter to provide the coax TV port. My question, therefore, is whether there is some additional configuration step necessary to make the WF-803M work with the Fios set top box without the extra two-way splitter?
