Hi guys,
Do you know how WF-803M will handle VLAN tags? I'm hoping it will simply pass any VLAN tags and then it will be up to the devices at each ethernet endpoint end to handle the packets accordingly.
Can any one confirm this - any insights will be appreciated. Thanks 😀
Kind regards,
Henrik
WF-803M uses MxL3710 chip. MxL3710 supports VLAN tagging pass-through. So yes. Additionally, technically, depends on the Ethernet controller chipset, the Ethernet adapter won't handle the VLAN tagging. VLAN tagged packets are handled by software drivers and the operating system. On a Linux machine, you can configure multiple virtual NICs to be on different VLANs.

FYI... The very first entry in the recently restored FAQ on the Support page:
Can your MoCA devices bridge 802.1q VLAN tagged packets and add VLAN tags?
Yes, our device can pass packets with VLAN tag. But, it can't add VLAN tags to the passed ethernet packets.
