    unsymmetrical speeds between 2 gocoax units

    in Everything for MoCA

    I have two WF-803Ms that I'm having a strange issue with. Sending data from unit 1 to unit 2, I'll see > 900Mbit/s consistently. However, when sending data from 2 to 1, the speeds are all over the place. Rarely I'll see over 800Mbps, but most of the time it will be in the 10-50Mbps range. This is running iperf3 between two hosts, either both directly connected to the gocoax units, or via the LAN ports on my wireless routers. I've directly connected the two laptops together to verify I get gigabit speeds both directions, so it's definitely an issue between the moca adapters. I notice that on unit 1, the number of Rx bad packets will increase with each run of iperf3 (and yes, I'm using the recommended -w 2M option). The PHY rates are in the 3400's for both 1->2 and 2->1.

    Is it possible for the coax cable to be good in one direction and not the other? (I haven't yet tested connecting the two units together with a short run of coax since that would take my wireless network offline...I can do that test on a weekend if need be). Or is it possible I have a bad transmitter or receiver in one of the units?

    My setup is cable->PoE->2-way BAMF splitter -> gocoax1 -> router LAN (coax out to modem)

    -> gocoax2 -> AP WAN

    If I push LOF to 1275, I still get 4 channels, but now no Rx Bad packets at all. Interference in 1125-1250MHz range? I doubt Comcast is running that high in my area, but maybe someone has some loud MoCA gear? POE should block either, but maybe it's just a hunk of insertion loss 😅. Oh well, I'm getting almost a full duplex Gbit, so I'm going to stop worrying. Have a different splitter on order (antronix) to see if that helps.

    Finally got 4 channels to bond by checking D-Ext and D-High and setting LOF to 1250. Now I get over 900Mbps each direction, and can get 800-900 when running iperf both directions at the same time. Seeing a few Rx Bad packets, but far fewer than when bonding all 5 channels.

    Any ideas what is going on when all 5 channels are bonding?

    I've been playing some with settings, and find that if I limit to 1 or 2 channels, then I get more balanced performance (mid 400Mbps from 2->1, and mid 600Mbps 1->2). And the Rx Bad packets remains at 0. I can't figure out how to configure them to bond 3 or 4 channels. I've various combinations of D-Low D-High and D-Ext checked, and have tried a few different settings for LOF. What would be the right way to configure 1275-1675MHz as pictured in the MoCA 2.5 spec? I'm just trying to see if there's a way to narrow down which frequency band is giving me trouble.
