Hello,
So I bought this thinking it was a converter for Coax to ethernet. I essentially bought this as a replacement for a cable box which also acted as a Coax to Ethernet converter. I plugged the Coax cable into the adapter from the wall, followed by the power and then plugged the ethernet into my ethernet splitter which is connected to various devices around the room, including and most importantly my PC ( via ethernet cables). I read the directions in the guide which then told me to configure my IP address. This is where I get confused. I do not have an additional GoCoax device, nor am I trying to connect through the MOCA. I am simply trying to use the GoCaox adapter as a Coax to ethernet adapter just as my cable box did. However when I plugged everything in my PC says there is no internet connection. I tried plugging my COAX cable into both the TV and MOCA slots of the GoCoax device and I still could not get a connection. What am I doing wrong?

The author seems to misunderstand the MoCA adapter's function. It's not a simple coax-to-ethernet converter like a cable box's built-in functionality. It needs a MoCA network to operate. Think of it like a Block Breaker game – one device isn't enough; you need a corresponding device to establish the connection. I agree with the assessment; the question reflects a fundamental misinterpretation of MoCA technology and its purpose.

Jesus Christ, I just replied to a 3 1/2 year old thread because a spambot bumped it. As you were.
You mean you have like a coax internet input from the wall? This isn't what that is. Your old cable box would've received data over Coax but it wouldn't be using the MoCA protocols to achieve that - it'll be a totally different thing. But if it did work that way, you'd be directly exposing a computer to the internet without any form of firewall/vlan etc
The MoCA adapters are basically a LAN adapter that lets you piggyback network traffic over Coax cables.
You'll need two typically. My use case is I have coax in my house going to most rooms for TV cables. I connect the MoCA adapters to that so I can get 2.5Gbit LAN functionality between my PC upstairs and my internet entry point / servers downstairs. They're fine to use in conjunction with the frequencies for freeview TV but if you're using Satellite TV in a certain frequency range there'll be a clash and you might need filters. TL;DR - it's the wrong thing for what you're expecting. You need a cable modem, the only thing this has in common with a cable modem is the type of connector on the end.
Hello,
The device is not a cable modem. To get the Internet service, you need a cable modem/router from your ISP. Then you can use our device to distribute Internet connection within your house.
