Hey folks, I’ve got a chainwire security fence around my warehouse in western Sydney, installed about 5 years ago. It’s been doing the job fine, but I’ve started noticing a few rust spots near the bottom, especially where water seems to pool after rain. I’ve also had a couple of bolts come loose on one of the posts. I’m not exactly sure how often I should be checking it or what kind of upkeep it really needs. Any advice from someone with a bit more experience?

Hey, totally get where you’re coming from – I manage a logistics site near Botany and we’ve dealt with similar issues over the years. The rust is pretty common, especially if drainage around the posts isn’t great. One thing that helped us was adding gravel around the base of the fence to reduce water buildup. Also, try using a zinc-rich primer to touch up those rust spots before they spread too much – saves money long-term.
We now do a full walk-around inspection every 2-3 months, checking for loose bolts, damaged mesh, or sagging lines. And I’d say once a year, get someone to do a full professional check-up. We actually had LS Fencing Services come out last October and they were super thorough – not pushy at all, just helpful. You can check them out at commercial security fencing Sydney if you want some expert support. They do both maintenance and new installations, so it's worth getting in touch if the fence is older or in a high-risk area. It’s easy to overlook this stuff until it becomes urgent.
