In Everything for MoCA
Hi goCoax, Wanted to drop you a post to say thank you for such a great product! I'm from the UK and we don't really use our coax for networking, it's primarily for TV (usually from external aerials/dishes). The only exception being Virgin Media (Cable Broadband/TV provider) who pipe their connections over coax, but they don't have 100% coverage across the UK. I recently moved into a new home and my workspace/office is at the other end of the property to where my Broadband connection enters. The house is relatively new so each room has IEC TV face-plates all terminating at a signal amp in the loft. This got me thinking, could I repurpose the runs from the Dining Room (where the Broadband enters) and the Office (where my Router/Network kit lives) into a MoCA network! The short answer is Yes! I bought two MA2500D units, some IEC/F connectors and appropriate Coaxial Cable. I had to do some cable testing in the loft to determine which runs terminated to the corresponding face-plates in each room, but once I found the Dining Room & Office I simply bypassed the signal amp (which isn't MoCA compatible) to make a single run between those two rooms. I recently had FFTP installed and this was my driving factor in setting up a pass-through, as I didn't want my network gear in the Dining Room (not did my wife!). This is the end result: From the ONT Ethernet --> MA2500D --> Dining Room IEC face-plate --> through the internal walls --> Office IEC face-plate --> MA2500D --> Ethernet to my Router --> Network switches etc. WIN! My FFTP package is for 900Mbps, my (hourly, scripted) speed tests show: So that's my setup. Thoroughly happy with the goCoax products, they came via China with the correct UK adapter and were with me in less than a week! I've been using this setup for about a month and had practically zero issues. Even my wife is happy that all the Dining Room "kit" gets hidden behind a piece of furniture 😂 If you're from the UK and reading this wondering "will MoCA work for me?", I hope this post finds you well and helps confirm that goCoax products will do the job! Cheers, Jay
Thank you from the UK content media
